Parian Katikia (farmhouse)

A Journey into Traditional Architecture

A presentation by Giorgos Kavallis that explores the historical and morphological evolution of the traditional Parian house based on the typology of Cycladic farmhouses. From the Early Cycladic Period to the mid-20th century, these houses, built with local materials, incorporated original construction methods such as adhesive construction and natural insulation. We will discover how the spaces were designed to accommodate families and animals, and how ovens, cisterns and wine presses served the self-sufficiency of rural life.

The presentation sheds light on the role of the traditional house in the formation of settlements and the harmonious adaptation to the natural environment.

We invite you to embark on a thoughtful journey into authentic Cycladic architecture, enhanced by rich visual materials.
