Maroulia Kontou & Heleen Schuttevaêr. Two pianists join forces, switching back and forth from Bach to Legrand, from bluesy Piazzolla to Chopin.
Maroulia will display her expertise in classical piano technique, Heleen her flexibility in jazz improvisation.
Serenity and reflection are alternated with tension, drama and swing. They will also play their own compositions.
Maroulia Kontou (Greece) is an acclaimed pianist, owner & director of Mythodia Conservatory. She completed her music studies in Athens, where she got her Piano Diploma, Harmony, Counterpoint and Fugue Diploma, all with excellent grades. She is also Choir Director. Her students and choirs have won first prizes in many music competitions in Greece and abroad. She is also organizing concerts, like ‘Opera Under the Stars’ that takes place in the Paros Park Festival for the 7th year now.
Heleen Schuttevaêr (The Netherlands) performs nationally and internationally with a wide range of musicians. She is a composer, bandleader and organizer of a concert series called Club Jazz with guests in various jazz styles in The Netherlands and abroad. She is well known in the Paros music scene, a.o. as the host-organizer of numerous concerts at Holland Tunnel Gallery Paros and as a performing artist and teacher of the MAM Festival and Workshop Paros.
