An exceptional young pianist comes to Paros

KYKLOS PAROS is delighted to invite music lovers to a special piano recital by the award-winning Greek pianist Dimitrios Papakyriazis, one of the most promising artists of his generation.

The beautiful Mythodia Conservatory in Parikia will host an evening dedicated to two of the greatest composers of the twentieth century: Maurice Ravel and George Gershwin. The carefully curated programme combines French elegance with the vibrant rhythms and colours of American jazz, culminating in Gershwin’s iconic Rhapsody in Blue.


Biography of Dimitris Papakyriazis

Born in 2002, Dimitris Papakyriazis began piano lessons at the age of eight at the Athens Conservatoire under pianist and music educator Efi Marinaki. In June 2019, he was awarded the Piano Certificate with Excellent. In June 2021, he received the Piano Diploma with the highest distinction (Excellent Unanimously) and First Prize. He also holds the DipLCM and ALCM Piano Performance diplomas with Distinction from the London College of Music.

He has received numerous awards in national and international piano competitions, including:

  • 2nd Prize at the 11th Panhellenic Competition for Young Pianists in Andros (2024)
  • 1st Prize at the 4th MusicArte Panhellenic Piano Competition (2023)
  • 2nd Prize at the 7th UNESCO Arts, Speech and Sciences Club Panhellenic Music Competition (2022)
  • 3rd Prize at the 10th Panhellenic Competition for Young Pianists in Andros (2022)
  • 1st Prize at the Panhellenic Competition of the Hellenic Conservatory (Χ.Ο.Ν.) in 2019
  • 1st Prize at the Panhellenic Competition of the Hellenic Conservatory (Χ.Ο.Ν.) in 2012.

He has also been distinguished at the 18th International Piano Competition MozartArte at the Music Academy in Aachen and at the César Franck International Piano Competition in Brussels (2022).

He has actively participated in masterclasses with distinguished pianists and internationally acclaimed soloists, including Piotr Folkert, Roger Muraro, Ana Mirabela Dina, Olivier Kern, Christopher Elton, Aline Artigianan, Lilia Boyadjieva, Carlo Grante, Florian Podgoreanu, Piotr Oczkowski, Martino Tirimo, Pavlos Yallourakis, Christos Zouganelis, and Dimitris Toufexis. Since 2021, he has also been studying with internationally renowned pianist Dora Bakopoulou.

As a concert pianist, he has appeared in numerous performances at prestigious venues, including the Athens Conservatoire Concert Hall, the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron Mousikis), the Theocharakis Foundation, the Hellenic-American Union, the Parnassos Literary Society, the Philippos Nakas Conservatory Concert Hall, the Nea Smyrni Cultural Centre (Estia), the Anna and Maria Kalouta Theatre, the Musical Library, the Theatre of the Ursuline School of the Hellenic-French School, and the Piraeus Association Concert Hall.

In December 2021, he participated in a concert dedicated to young artists organized by the Musical and Cultural Association “I EUTERPI.”

In August 2022, as part of the 16th Aegina International Music Festival, he took part in the concert “The Pianists.” In October 2022, he was selected to perform after auditions at the Alternative Stage Piano Festival of the Greek National Opera, in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Piano Festival.

In January 2023, he performed a piano recital as part of the 34th concert series “Young People for Young People”, organized by the Philippos Nakas Conservatory.

During 2023 and 2024, he participated actively in Piano City Athens. In August 2023, he attended the Chetham’s International Piano Summer School in Manchester.

In January 2024, he participated in the Piano Days festival at the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron Mousikis).

In May 2024, he presented a recital dedicated to the music of the American composer George Gershwin.

In June 2024, he was admitted to the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków (Akademia Muzyczna im. Krzysztofa Pendereckiego w Krakowie), where he studies in the class of Professor Janusz Skowron.

In April 2026, as part of the “Duettissimo” Festival, he actively participated in chamber music in the class of Professor Monika Wiśniewska-Tarasiuk, while during the same period he collaborated with internationally renowned violinist Giannis Georgiadis in a chamber music concert in Patras.
