Kyklos Paros is delighted to invite members, friends, and visitors to a unique evening where archaeology, history, and literature come together against the remarkable backdrop of the Cyclades.
On Sunday, June 7th, Professor Tristan Carter and author Vanessa Gordon will present The Secrets of Stelida: the Excavation and the Book at the home of Jean Polyzoides.
The evening will begin with Professor Carter sharing insights from the internationally significant excavations at Stelida, one of the most important prehistoric archaeological sites in the Aegean. As director of the Stelida Naxos Project, he will discuss discoveries from the Neolithic and Bronze Age periods and explain how these findings continue to reshape our understanding of early human activity in the Cyclades.
The second part of the evening will explore how archaeology can inspire fiction. Vanessa Gordon will speak about the creative journey behind her novel The Secrets of Stelida, and how the real excavation site became the setting for one of her celebrated Naxos Mysteries. Together, the speakers will discuss their unusual collaboration between scientific research and storytelling.
The event will conclude with an open Q&A session, followed by a book signing. Copies of the book will also be available during the evening.
